Abstract:

With the higher the transmission line voltages, the larger the electrical power of the electricity network and the serving scale, the disadvantage influence of electric power failure becomes more and more fearful to the production and the daily life. And it becomes an important problem to decrease the occurrence of the faults to the best of the electric workers\’ abilities. As one of the main faults of electric power system, it shows more and more importance to lower down the insulation faults and to enhance the ability of the on-line insulation detection. At present, there is no mature or reliable method for faulty insulator detecting in China or abroad, especially for live line work. In this paper the author gives a research on the electric-field measurement method and UV pulse method based on non-contact mode to detect faulty insulator. This paper based on non-contact mode to detect faulty insulator. The faulty insulator may cause change to the voltage distribution of the insulator chain, which will lead to change to the surface air discharge strength of the insulator. The varity rate of discharging pulse number would rise significantly (more than 10% for 110 kV insulator chain), and in extreme cases it could reach more than 100%. The insulation status can be determined by detecting the change of solar blind UV radiant intensity caused by the surface corona discharge of the insulator. This paper introduces the principle of UV pulse method, introduces the basic structure and realize method, and emphases the simulation experiment under different area, season, weather and voltage degree and anaylse the experiment data. The study indcated that through the change of the UV pulse we can check up the faulty insulator based on non-contact mode.
